- Internet Indiana has a searchable database at:
-
- http://www.in.net/info/modems/index.html
-
- There are two 28.8 initstrings there for newcom. I've tried both of
- them, and yours, Edwin (after I replaced that \% combination after the
- K5 with a %, and I never got that last %r to work).
-
- Anyway, none of those combinations, although they all seem to work,
- have worked as well as the basic (and extremely simple)
- Hayes-compatible ATZ init that my service at UWisconsin Madison
- recommends. Even though it "says" it's connecting at 2400, that one
- gives me consistently faster access without bad packet messages. My
- download speed with Netscape 2.0 hovers at around 2k per sec and
- graphics load FAST. I'd be interested in hearing how others' mileage
- may vary. I'm still using Win3.1 I understand Win95's dialler gets
- better speed.
-
- If you like your string better, you can add it to the list at Indiana
- so everybody can give it a try.
-
- If you want me to see your reply, like if you don't have a browser and
- would like to try those strings, send an email. I check this group
- pretty infrequently. If not, good luck.
